BOSTON, Mass. – The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Board of Stewards has announced the All-Academic Team for the 2016-17 academic year. To be eligible for recognition a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35 or higher, completed one full year at their institution (freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible), be an institutional letter winner and also competed at the 2017 IRA National Championship Regatta.
In all, 336 student-athletes from 32 member institutions were recognized. Brown University led the way for Men’s Heavyweight programs with 17 qualifying student-athletes. Yale University led the Men’s Lightweight category with 13 student-athletes while Harvard-Radcliffe and Massachusetts Institute of Technology led the way for Women’s Lightweight programs with 10 honorees each.
