The Stewards Cup was presented in 1900 to the IRA by Francis S. Banks of Columbia University. The trophy was awarded to the winners of the Heavyweight Freshmen Eight Champions until 2017, where it is now awarded to the winners of the Heavyweight Third Varsity Eight. Washington and Pennsylvania tied for the honor in 1969 in a dead heat.
