WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The 2021 IRA National Championship will be held without spectators. While we understand this news is disappointing to family and friends of our student-athletes - it is imperative we follow this policy and spectators refrain from attending the event.
All of our institutions agreed to attend the regatta earlier this spring based on a number of factors, and one of those was to create a controlled environment for our teams that would not include spectators. It's imperative we adhere to this policy so all of our teams are permitted to attend the event safely by their institutional leadership. This policy WILL NOT CHANGE prior to the event.
Park rangers will be posted in the athlete field area, along the shore line and near the finish tower. Those without proper credentials to be in these areas, will be asked to leave by the rangers. Failure to comply or excess need to remove spectators may result in a racing delay until the venue can be properly secured.
The Association continues its commitment to a high-level of webstream and are hopeful you can all enjoy the production from the comfort of home.
We will be broadcasting all four sessions, including the time trial, with the talents of Fred Schoch, Colleen Saville and Dave Vogel calling the action. The IRA drone will also be in use to provide excellent aerial coverage of the races and we have worked with our timing vendor to bring enhanced graphics to make following the action from home even easier.
All racing will be broadcast via the IRA YouTube Channel, "irarowing".
